Tributes paid to Arangpham leaders

Manipuri Arangpham Development and Cultural Institution (MADCI) paid rich floral tributes to departed Arangpham (event managers of traditional ceremonies) leaders of the state during a commemorative event held at Pioneer Club, Lamdeng Makha Leikai on Friday.
North East Zone Cultural Centre, Dimapur member Saratchand Thiyam attended the event as chief guest and MADCI president L Apa-bi Singh as president while Mayang Langjing GP pradhan T Tompok, Maklang GP pradhan Leimahal Devi, ex-councillor L Ashokumar and social worker Laishram Nabakumar were present as guests of honour.
MADCI secretary Khuraijam Girani Meetei said that the main objective of organising the event was to make people aware about the importance of Arangpham in ritual ceremonies of ManipUr and to honour those dedicated to the Arangpham service.
In his speech at the event, Saratchand Thiyam said chat forefathers of the land left rich culture and accordingly binds the present generation together.
The present generation survives and lives with dignity due to the rich culture preserved by forefathers of the land and hence the present generation should also follow the footsteps of the forefathers and pass on the legacy to the future generation.
At the event, Kh Girani Singh was conferred MADCI award for Arangpham.
