Imphal, February 12 2014:
President of BJP Manipur Pradesh Thounaojam Chaoba has demanded the Centre to enact a strict law to protect the northeastern people in Delhi and other cities of the country.
Talking to media persons on the sidelines of the observation of death anniversaries of BJP leaders Deen Dayal Upadhyan and Sh Modhumangol Sharma at the head-office of BJP Manipur Pradesh here yesterday, Chaoba pointed out that there have been a series of racial attacks on the northeastern people in the National Capital Delhi.
The recent death of Arunachal Pradesh MLA's son Nido Tania and assault on Manipuri men and women have clearly shown the northeastern people are not safe in their own country.
The Centre should make a strict legislation to deal with racism in the country, as done in the United States to protect the black people, he noted.
The State Government should also pressurize the Central Government to enact the anti-racism law in the country.
There should be a deliberation of all political parties on this issue, he added.
