Dy CM finds 2nd IRB HQ in shabby condition

Imphal, February 12 2014:
The Headquarters of 2nd Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) located at Naransaina under Moirang Assembly Constituency has been found in a dilapidated condition with presence of only 32 personnel.
The sorry state of this IRB HQ was discovered by Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, who is also in-charge of Home Department, during an inspection of police stations and outposts under Imphal West, Thoubal and Bishnupur districts today.
Gaikhangam was accompanied by Works Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar and MLAs Bira, K Ranjit, Lukhoi, Prithviraj and Mangibabu along with DGP Shahid Ahmed and other police officials during the inspection.
The barracks and other infrastructures of the 2nd IRB Headquarters were found in a deplorable condition manned by only 32 personnel under the command of a Jemadar.
Other personnel of the Battalion are currently stationed at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex.
The ministerial team also inspected Wangoi PS, Mayang Imphal PS, Arong Nongmaikhong PS, Nongmaikhong PS, Langmeidong VDF Post, Sekmaijin PO, Kakching KHunou PO, Hiyanglam PS, Wangoo PS, Wangoo Lamkhai VDF Post, Kumbi Leitangbi VDF Post, Kumbi PS, Keibul Lamjao PS, Phabakchao PS and Moirang PS.
Talking to media persons on the sidelines of the inspection, Deputy CM Gaikhangam said that most of the police stations and outposts are in deplorable condition.
The State Government would try to develop and upgrade the police stations within a short time.
A report of the inspection programme would be sent to the Chief Minister, he informed.
