Kanggui, February 12 2014:
All Tribal Students' Union Manipur (ATSUM), who have announced indefinite economic blockade from February 16 today accused Consumer's Club of the State for alleged failure to control man-made inflation.
ATSUM general secretary Marahang Ngiimai while appealing to the business community not to take advantage of the proposed indefinite economic blockade charged incompetency of the Consumer's Club for what it said was causing panic among the people due to likely impact of the economic blockade.
Conveying that ATSUM understands that the public both in the valley and hills would be affected immensely, conceded that the students' body has no other suitable and appropriate option but to call the blockade as the Government is never interested in addressing the long pending issues even after giving them enough time and opportunity.
Marahang also posed to the consumer club "Why they (the consumer club) are not controlling the man made inflation even before the proposed blockade begins specially Oil Pumps/Stations?" .
Past experience clearly confirm that trends of panic buying of transport fuel is caused by the business community whose sole intention is to take advantage of the situation and yield maximum profit, expressed the secretary stating that every section of the society need to check such unfair trade practices.
