Election code of conduct to be effective from March: CEO

State Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) O Nabakishore has informed that the model code of conduct for the coming Lok Sabha Election would be made effective likely from the first week of March.
Taking to media persons at the office chamber of DIPR Director here today, Nabakishore said that a meeting of CEOs of all states was convened at New Delhi on February 10 to discuss and make strategic planning to conduct the coming 16th Lok Sabha polls in a free and fair manner across the country.
Chief Election Commissioner of India has given strict instructions for constituting State Coordinating Committees to be headed by Chief Secretaries for looking after poll preparations in their respective states and also for transferring those Government officials who have remained in the same posting for three consecutive years, State CEO said.
The CEOs have also been instructed to closely monitor election expenditures of candidates and impart necessary training to the polling officials and personnel.
The poll training would commence from the last week of February.
A meeting of media persons and representatives of political parties would be convened at Hotel Classic on February 24, he stated.
