National Council meeting of IDPD held

Imphal, February 12 2014:
The National Council meeting of Indian Doctors for Peace and Development (IDPD) held at Babina Diagnostic Centre here today has adopted certain resolutions related to development of health sector in the State.
The meeting decided to lobby with the government to increase budget allocation for health from 1.9 percent to 6 percent so as to meet the challenge of health to all and expressed serious concern over India likely to miss the targets set to meet the Millennium Development Goals by 2015 to bring down the infant mortality from the current rate of 42 per thousand live births to 28 per thousand and also the maternal mortality rate from the present rate of 182 to 109 .
It also decided to submit a Charter of Health to the government and launch a nationwide campaign under the theme 'No to Arms, Yes to Health' .
