Kamjong, CCpur, Kakching observe Cyber Jagrookta Diwas

Kamjong/CCpur, October 06 2022:
Cyber Jagrookta (Awareness) Diwas (CJD), an initiative of Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), which is to be observed every month on the first Wednesday in schools/college/universities/Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRI) and municipalities by involving District Magistrates, Police Authorities, Education Department officers was held in Kamjong and Churachandpur districts on Thursday.
In Kamjong, CJD was observed at DC Camp Office located at 2nd MR Battalion in the presence of deputy commissioner Rangnamei Rang Peter, ADC Ningeiram Leisan, additional SP Semmi Ramror, DLOs and staff of DC office.
Speaking at the event, Rangnamei emphasised on the importance of cyber awareness on issues related to cyber-crimes and cyber hygiene to prevent cyber-crimes, phising, online financial frauds, cyber impersonation, defamationcases, etc.
Observance of Cyber Jagrookta Diwas aimed at creating awareness among the public on increasing digital mode of transactions, he added.
As a part of the programme, Semmi Ramror gave a detailed power-point presentation about the various types of cyber-crimes, the legal implications of those, and how to legally tackle such issues.
Further, the DC ap pealed to all the officers and employees present to stay alert from any kind of cyber-crimes, and if any doubtful incidents are faced, then it should be reported to the nearest police station or the SP Cyber Crime office.
CJD was also observed in Churachandpur district to sensitise internet users on safeguarding against cyber hygiene and cybercrimes.
The District Administration organised Cyber Jagrookta Diwas at DC's Conference Hall, Mini Secretariat, Tuibong.
Speaking on the occasion, ADC Thienlaljoy Gangte pointed out that with the exponential increase in the number of internet users in India, the rapidly evolving technologies have brought its own unique challenges, besides aggravating the existing problems of cybercrimes.
He explained that Cyber Jagrookta Diwas is an initiative of Ministry of Home Affairs, brought under the I4C scheme with the objective of raising cyber security awareness among public sector undertakings (PSUs), banks, panchayat raj institutions (PRIs), universities, schools, etc.; among others.
As resource person of the observance, NIC Churachandpur DIO Kh Kishwar stated that cybercrimes can be prevented through 'Cyber Hygiene' by inculcating habits of taking basic care of ICT devices at regular intervals such as, properly shutting down the computer, changing passwords at regular intervals, being cautious against opening of phishing websites along with other websites, etc.
He also briefed the participants on basic protocols of Cyber Hygiene such as to avoid joining unknown Wi-Fi networks and using unsecured Wi-Fi hotspots, not to share any information related to sensitive and financial aspects in social networks, etc.
The event was also attended by ADC (Development) Khaikhopau Ngai-hte, assistant commissioner Zosanglur Joute, DLOs, staff of DC/Ccpur, DRDA, CAF&PD, NIC, DIT and Election department.
KAKCHING: Under the super vision of Kakching district police SP Shrey Vats, a series of awareness programmes on cyber-crime were conducted at police stations and outposts of the district on Thursday.
In some police stations, experts made the participants aware about cyber-crime and explained about the precautionary measures to be taken up to prevent from such crimes.
The awareness programme was also held at the SP's office with the participation of significant number of police officers.
