Survey conducted at Makhuam landslide site

Noney, October 06 2022:
An eight-member joint survey team comprising Geological Survey of India (GSI) Nagaland & Manipur Unit, Environment & Climate Change state officials and representatives of the State Relief & Disaster Management Department visited the site at Makhuam (Marangching), Noney district, where many lives were lost due to massive landslides that occurred three months ago.
Talking to this correspondent, the survey team leader AK Ranjitkumar Singh, who is documentation & research officer R& DM Manipur, informed that the team conducted preliminary survey to find out how mitigation work could be initiated to minimise damage of properties and lives due to landslides, hazards, earthquakes, floods, forest fires, etc.
The joint preliminary survey team will continue their survey and research works till Friday in coordination with the district administration of Noney.
The survey team was accompanied by Haochong SDO Solomon Fimate and village leaders of Makhuam (Marangching) .
