Bishnupur police seizes IMFL worth ₹30 Lakh

Bishnupur, October 06 2022:
A team of Bishnupur district police seized Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) including can beers worth Rs 30 lakh from a truck at Bishnupur forest gate on Thursday around 7.45 am.
Addressing the media, Bishnupur SP N Herojit Meetei said that the district police deployed for frisking and checking of goods laden vehicles operating along the Khoupum-Bishnupur road stopped a truck (HR 55 AE 0251) was coming from Guwahati and heading for Churachandpur at the Forest Gate and found the IMFL loaded in the vehicle.
The SP informed that on verification owner of the recovered items was identified as one Rupesh Kumar (22), son of Anandi Mahato of Mantripukhri, Imphal and the driver as Md Ajij Khan (28), son of Md Alimuddin of Lilong Ushoipokpi Bazar.
The two arrestees along with the seized items have being handed over to the Excise Department for necessary action, he said and cautioned that even if the sale and consumption of liquor have been legalised by the government, the police will continue its drive against import, sale and consumption of the same as no particular place for sale and consumption has been declared by the government.
The seized items include 93 boxes of McDowell (375 ml), 99 boxes of McDowell (180 ml), 12 boxes of Royal stag (180 ml), 64 boxes of Kingfisher beer (750 ml), 180 boxes of Old Monk (750 ml) and 200 boxes of Kingfisher and Tuborg Beer cans (500 ml), the SP added.
