Imphal, October 06 2022:
Film Forum Manipur (FFM) chairman L Surjakanta has denied the allegations levelled by a woman named Ashakiran on social media regarding Nabakumar Film Production's new film 'Tantha' .
Addressing a press meet at FFM office, Lamphelpat, here, on Thursday, Surjakanta said that the Forum does not indulge in any biased activities or favouritism when it comes to art whether it is in acting, writing, lyrics, or music, and whether one is from poor or rich family.
Terming the charge of the woman through social media as unfounded, the chairman said he received a complaint from the woman on August 30 .
Consequently, the issue was resolved during a joint meeting of the forum with producer Paonam Suhela, director N Thoiba and script writer Ashakiran on August 31 .
After about a week, Ashakiran made an allegation through a press meet complaining about missing of her name in the film censor certificate.
She should know that the only name that will be mentioned in the censor certificate is the production house, censorship committee jury members, invitees and officer of the authority concerned, Surjakanta explained, adding that Film Forum does not issue censor certificate.
He also slammed the woman complainant for making false claim of completing a six-month diploma course organised by the Forum and clarified that the Forum never conducted any course or even workshop.
Surjakanta further said that the Forum conducts preview of films to check traditions, costumes and foreign language contents.
In case of disputes before getting censor certificate, the Forum can intervene and resolve the dispute.
However, the Forum does not have any authority for restricting film screening, which has already received censor certificate and nobody can blame the Forum in this regard, he said.
Following her allegation, the Forum invited both parties for a talk on Thursday but Ashakiran did not come.
The Forum reviewed the complaint and found that her name is still in the credit line of the film.
As such, the Forum did not find any evidence to prove her complaint, he added.
