Sit-in presses authorities to locate missing Priyobrata

A sit-in protest was staged at Nachou Bazar on Thursday pressing authorities concerned to find the whereabouts of van driver Yanglem Priyobrata (48), son of Y Kesho of Nachou Awang Leikai Ward No 2, who went missing since December 30, 2022 after he had gone for ferrying passengers.
The protestors also appealed to civil society organisations to extend help in the search for the missing van driver.
Speaking to media persons during the protest organised jointly by All Nachou United Clubs' Organisation, Nachou Gram Panchayat and meira paibi activists, Y Priyobrata's wife Y Ibemcha Devi re counted that her husband had called her around 9 pm on December 30 informing that he has left Moreh but would not be coming home directly as he had been booked for dropping some passengers to Dimapur, Nagaland.
On being asked who the passengers are, her husband replied that he will be taking his regular customer, a guy named James and his wife from Lamboi Khongnangkhong, she added.
Ibemcha continued that when she called her husband around 8 am on December 31, the phone was ringing but nobody picked it up.
She repeatedly called on her husband's phone number but it remained unanswered and finally around 3 pm on December 31, the phone got switched off.
Since then, there has been no contact with her husband, she stated.
Ibemcha appealed to the government, authorities concerned and CSOs to help trace her husband who is the sole breadwinner of the family.
On the other hand, one Laishram Menjor stated that Y Priyobrata used to transport passengers in his EECO van (MN01- AS 7696) to and fro Imphal and Moreh.
A missing person report has been filed at Bishnupur police station on January 2 .
But it is very unfortunate that nothing has been known about Priyobrata till now, he said, while appealing to the public for help in finding Priyobrata.
