Governor stresses prompt redressal of genuine issues

Governor La Ganesan visited Kumbi in Bishnupur district on Thursday and interacted with MLAs, DLOs, CSOs, local clubs and the public.
The Governor enquired about various developmental works being taken up in the district particularly in Kumbi assembly constituency and also heard the grievances and problems raised by the people there.
He then assured to extend all possible assistance in the best interest of the people by consulting with the authorities concerned including the chief minister.
Speaking at the interaction programme held at Kumbi Kangjeibung, Governor La Ganesan informed that his objective is to meet with people of different communities in the state to learn their culture, traditions and way of life.
While stating that most of the issues raised by the people are genuine, the Governor opined that such issues should be addressed in a time bound manner.
Issues pertaining to connectivity, healthcare, education, irrigation, etc., are the basic issues which have to be addressed as soon as possible, the Governor reiterated, while advising the officials concerned to take appropriate steps for the welfare of the people.
La Ganesan also stated that due to prompt action of the state government and with the support of people Covid-19 pandemic is almost under control but emphasised that Covid vaccination has to be encouraged further and appealed the public to come out for vaccination.
He also proposed that the department concerned conduct a survey in Bishnupur district to find out TB patients so as to carry out remedial measures.
Expressing deep concern over the increasing number of drug users among the youthful population in the state, the Governor said that the issue has to be prevented with collective efforts including CSOs and public.
Collective efforts are very much necessary and state government is already committed to make Manipur a drug-free state, the Governor added.
Pointing out that the G-20 meeting will be held in Bishnupur district, he expressed confidence that after few years, Bishnupur district particularly the Loktak Lake will become one of the most popular tourist hubs of the state for which unstinted support from the public is quite indispensable.
MLAs S Premchandra Singh, I Nalini and T Robindro; LDA chairman M As-nikumar, ex-MLA S Bira, Bishnupur deputy commissioner L Bikram, Bishnupur SP, district level officers, students and people from adjoining areas of Kumbi attended the programme.
