Imphal, January 05 2023:
To make people of border areas aware about the various government schemes launched time to time for ensuring growth and prosperity in border villages, Khuga Battalion of IGAR (South) conducted an awareness lecture for local youth at H Khunou village in Churachandpur district on January 3.According to PRO IGAR (S), the comprehensive and elaborate lecture was undertaken by Company Operating Base H Khunou of Khuga Battalion.
During the interaction, the local populace were briefed about various state/central government sponsored upliftment oriented schemes and programmes and were guided on the eligibility criterion and procedure to apply and get benefit of the same.
It has been observed with grave concern that the government schemes in border villages go unsubscribed due to lack of awareness and necessary documentation support which otherwise could have helped these areas to progress at a better pace and in an all-inclusive way, the PRO said, adding that Assam Rifles thus took the initiative to remove the basic roadblock of unawareness and ignorance thereby helping the actual beneficiaries.
A total of 17 villagers including 6 women attended the event.
Meanwhile, Modi Battalion of IGAR (South) distributed 10 water storage tanks (1000 ltr) under the Assam Rifles' Civic Action Programme to villagers of Machi Loken, under Machi sub-division in Tengnoupal district on Wednesday.
While informing that provision of water tanks has boosted infrastructural development and served as a labour and time saving device for the villagers, the PRO said it has been the sincere endeavour of the Armed Forces to ensure the development of community in terms of education, infrastructure and security of the region.
The villagers extended their sincere gratitude to the Assam Rifles for the assistance, added the PRO.
