Imphal, April 09 2016 :
Infuriated over disruption of a Thabal Chongba celebration at Napet Palli, a mob attacked a camp of URF last night.
One LP school located at Napet Palli which was being used as a temporary designated camp of URF (Ching- kheinganba alias Soviet group) was attacked by a mob at around 10 pm yesterday.
According to information culled from the spot, girls of Napet Palli were organising a Thabal Chongba celebration at the school's ground but their plan was opposed by URF.
Subsequently, the girls organised the celebration at a nearby paddy field.
Even as the girls reportedly requested URF cadres to stay indoor until the celebration was over, some URF cadres came out and started frisking people.
They also allegedly assaulted some people on the charge of flashing lights upon them.
This was soon followed by gun shots.

As a result, all the people fled helter-skelter and the Thobal Chongba celebration was cut short.
Infuriated by the alleged haughty conduct of URF cadres, local people chased and thrashed some of them.
Then they attacked the militant outfit's designated camp.
Altogether 11 vehicles including seven Honda Activa scooters, one Tata Magic, one Maruti van, one Maruti Gypsy and a motorcycle found inside the designated camp were set ablaze.
It is reported that Achoi- bam Amarjit (30), Atom Bi-shorjit (28) and Ngairangbam Leisemba (28) sustained injuries as they were assaulted by URF cadres.
Nonetheless, a combined team of Lamlai Police, 17 AR and 45 AR managed to rescue women and children who were staying at the designated camp.
After signing a Memorandum of Understanding with the Govt, the URF cadres were staying at the designated camp since May last year.
Some unidentified persons attacked the same camp using firearms in the night of March 2 this year.
Meanwhile, a public meeting was held today at Napet Palli and a JAC was constituted.
The meeting decided that police and AR should take up adequate security measures for civilians of the area until the issue is resolved.
