AR celebrates Ningol Chakouba

In keeping up with the time honoured Manipuri traditions, the IGAR (South) today celebrated Ningol Chakkouba along with womenfolk from various walks of life and communities of the State, said a release of PRO IGAR (South).
Organised by 30 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South), the programme was also marked by felicitation of various women for their outstanding contribution towards the society.
Maj Gen Rajeev Chopra, IG AR (South) & Mrs Rashmi Chopra, President Assam Rifles Welfare Association, IGAR (South) extended a traditional welcome to the Ningols.
Lunch was organised as per Manipuri traditions, with everyone eating the traditional Manipuri meal on plantain leaves and being served by the personnel of Assam Rifles attired in Pheijoms.
Maj Gen Rajeev Chopra & Mrs Rashmi Chopra, in their message, appreciated the invaluable contribution of the Manipuri womenfolk in all walks of life and added that it was an honour to host the Ningols.
They appealed to the women folk to continue their inimitable role of maintaining peace, development and harmony in the society and emphasized that in the current milieu, wherein the state is undergoing a drastic transformation, the women can make a big difference.
