More students prop up demand for ILP implementation

Bolstering demand for implementation of Inner Line Permit, students of eight Government Higher Secondary Schools today declared their stand to stay away from the upcoming Sangai Festival which begins November 21 if the All Political Party ILP Committee fails to fulfill the November 18 dateline set by the Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) to introduce ILP or a similar law in Manipur.
Students of eight Higher Secondary Schools have decided to stay away from the Government sponsored Sangai Festival 2014 in support of the demand raised by JCILPS and its student wing to implement ILP system or a similar law in the state by November 18, L Rajesh, general secretary, Ram Lal Paul Higher Secondary School, Imphal told media at the school complex.
Referring to the case of Additional Superintendent of Police Y Victoria who was involved in beating and arresting of JCILPS activists, Rajesh said students of the eight schools have also extended support to the demand for action against the lady police officer by November 18 .
Flanked by representatives of the eight schools, Rajesh warned that they will go for intense agitation from November 19 if the demands are not met byNovember 18 by the Manipur Government.
