Rishang Keishing calls for unity in safeguarding territorial integrity

Saying that the State of Manipur is inhabited by people belonging to different communities despite its small geographical size since time immemorial, ex-Chief Minister and ex-Rajya Sabha MP Rishang Keishing noted that unity amongst the people of hills and valley is much required to maintain peaceful co-existence amongst each other and protect territorial integrity of the State from any eventuality.
The veteran political leader was attending a book release function of Autobiography of Laishram Achou, ex-MP held in connection with the 93rd Death Anniversary of the late MP at Wangkhei Keithel Asangbi Community Hall, Imphal East yesterday.
Speaking as the chief guest, Rishang Keishing recalled that he met L Achou in Kolkata during their stay in the city for education since then they became close friends while acknowledging that the late ex-MP was a dedicated leader who had always strived to bring welfare in the State.
He maintained that release of an autobiography of great leaders like L Achou is a welcoming step as younger generation would know the valuable contributions made by the late leader from the book.
Nowadays, the number of people who work solely for welfare of the society, not thinking much of themselves is very less, he expressed.
Conceding that he along with late L Achou under the Socialist Party had together launched mass movement for gaining statehood and setting up of Assembly in the State, he called upon the people to follow footsteps adopted by the late leader and materialize his dreams.
Organized by Laishram Achou (Achaw) Singh Autobiography Publishing Committee, the release function was also attended by E Chand, MLA Yaiskul Constituency as president; H Kangjamba, ex-Minister; Y Thambal, ex-MLA and E Sonamani, retd IAS as guests of honor.
