Covid claims ex-MSWDC chairperson, ex-AIR prog executive

Imphal, May 12 2021:
Chief Minister N Biren on Wednesday morning visited the residence of former Manipur State Women Development Corporation (MSWDC) chairperson S Satyabhama located at Tera, and paid his last respect.
Satyabhama succumbed to Covid-19 at RIMS Hospital on May 10 around 3.15 am.
After testing positive for Covid-19, she was admitted to Raj Medicity and later referred to RIMS hospital after she tested negative.
During the visit, CM Biren expressed deepest condolences over the untimely demise of Satyabhama and shared the grief of the bereaved family.
He said that the departure of Satyabhama, who played a pivotal role in strengthening BJP in the state, is a great loss for the state in general and the women community in particular.
S Satyabhama was the wife of founder member of BJP Manipur Pradesh late S Madhumangol Sharma.
Apart from being a social and political activist, she served as vice president of BJP Manipur Pradesh, president of Rajashri Bhagyachandra Cultural Foundation and also chairperson of Manipur State Social Welfare Advisory Board.
In separate releases, BJP Manipur Pradesh, BJP Sagolband Mandal, BJP Yaiskul Mandal, Republican Party of India (A) Manipur and Manipur Peoples' Democratic Front also condoled the untimely demise of S Satyabhama.
A two-minute silence was observed as a mark of respect to the departed soul and also prayed for her soul to rest in peace, the releases said.
Meanwhile, intending BJP candidate from Langthabal AC Pukhrabam Somorjit has mourned the demise of S Satyabhama and convened a condolence meeting at his residence.
Former All India Radio (AIR) programme executive Bijaya Yumlem-bam also succumbed to Covid-19 on Wednesday morning at Shija hospitals.
Born at Uripok Bachaspati Leirak, she was also a senior member of Manipur Mountaineering and Trekking Association (MMTA).
In a release, MMTA deeply mourned the sudden demise of its senior member and recalled that Bijaya took several responsibilities for the development and welfare of the Association.
MMTA also shared the grief of the bereaved family, the release added.
