AR dedicates projects to Chandel denizens

Imphal, May 12 2021:
Sajik Tampak Battalion of Assam Rifles constructed a rainwater harvesting reservoir in Sajik Tampak, Chandel district on Tuesday, said a release by PRO IGAR (South).
The release stated that the reservoir was created by excavating wasteland in the vicinity of Sajik Tampak to help the locals conserve both rainwater and groundwater.
The capacity of the rain water reservoir is 900 cubic metres with a storage capacity of nine lakh litres.
The aim of construction of the rainwater harvesting reservoir is to alleviate water scarcity being faced by the local residents and raising the local water table levels during monsoon season.
This initiative is in cognizance with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's initiative, Jal Jeevan Mission and is an important component of efforts of the state government's effort to achieve the goal of 'Har Ghar Jal' by 2024.The release also informed that two primary schools were renovated by Sehlon Battalion Assam Rifles under Assam Rifles Civic Action Programme 2020-21 in Chandel District on Wednesday.
The primary schools are located in New Samtal and Tuitong providing basic education to 197 children.
The release added that the Assam Rifles upgraded the schools to encompass replacing the dilapidated roof structure as well as provision of basic furniture and playground equipment.
