TNZL inspects Shangshak Sorbung Road

The Tangkhul Naga Zingsho Longphang (TNZL), in a statement, informed that the TNZL conducted an inspection of the ongoing road construction from Shangshak to Sorbung village.
TNZL stated that the stretch of the road is a key route connecting the three districts namely, Ukhrul, Kamjong and Tengnoupal.
The project is being implemented by PWD, Manipur and funded by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highway, Government of India.
The project began in 2020 and is due to be completed by 2023, it added.
TNZL, an apex organisation of the eastern Tangkhul region, had along with the contractors conducted the inspection of the road stretch from Shangshak to Sorbung, which falls within its jurisdiction.
The team found out that the ongoing road construction was satisfactory and in good progress.
TNZL lauded the work agency to continue maintaining the quality and standard of the road work.
The road from Shangshak to Sorbung, which falls within the jurisdiction of TNZL, is being undertaken by HVS Construction Materials (P) Ltd as a work agency, it added.
In fact, three work agencies are engaged in the ongoing road project connecting the three districts including Ukhrul, Kamjong and Tengnoupal.
The 202 km road project connecting the three districts was started in 1993 by Border Road Organisation (BRO) and later, taken over by State PWD.
However, the road was left neglected and remained abandoned for many years.
Meanwhile, the TNZL also appreciated the work agency for extending all possible assistance like construction of playground, levelling of plot for Church building, blacktopping of IVRs amongst others in different villages located along the road.
Further, the work agency has assured to extend assistance to other remote villages within the area.
The Tangkhul Naga Zingsho Longphang further mentioned that the public in the area has resolved to give all support and cooperation with the contractor party engaged with the ongoing road construction along the National Highway (102-A) .
