Longjam Jibanlata calls for action against assailant

Imphal, May 12 2021:
Longjam Jibanlata called for strict actions against those involved in physical assault and snatching of money and other items from her on April 27 .
Longjam Jibanlata told media persons that she was called by Naorem Gitabali at her residence at Naorem Leikai Penakhongbam Pareng for repayment of Rs 8.50 lakh which Gitabali had taken as loan from her.
But when she reached the place, she was assaulted by a group of people who were already present at her residence.
She was assaulted, her gold necklace and purse were snatched and when her purse was returned it was sans the Rs 30,000 which was in the purse, she alleged.
Her home was also burnt down, she added.
Longjam Jibanlata also alleged that the group of people who assaulted her also snatched her clothes, lift her blouse and shamed her in the public.
People including members from the JAC formed for Khesper tried to forcibly take her signature on a blank page for testimony that she had burnt down her house herself, she added.
A team of Imphal West District Police came and rescued her and an investigation underway but as of now no one has been arrested in connection to the incident, she added.
She also appealed the Government, relevant departments, NGOs and CSOs to support the investigation in order to punish those involved in the crime and added that the incident was a crime against women.
