HRCM urges case be fast tracked

The Human Rights Council Manipur (HRCM) has urged the State Government and authorities concerned to hear the case of the 'bride-to-be mysterious death' at Santhel Mamang Leikai on May 11 last at Fast Track Court and reward befitting punishment to all found guilty at the earliest possible.
In a statement, secretary of HRCM, Rabi Khan said that the deceased Phisabam Ruhani, d/o Ph Burhanuddin of Uchiwa Nastao Awang Leikai under Mayang Imphal police station was found dead under mysterious circumstances at her fiance's house.
He then appealed all not to provide shelter to any of the culprits of the case.
The council has also written to the Manipur Human Rights Commission to conduct a spot enquiry.
Apart from providing video coverage, the autopsy of Ruhani should be carried out in the presence of one Executive Magistrate, a doctor trusted by the family of the deceased and JAC/family members, he added.
Continuing that a copy of the post mortem report should be handed to the family members, Rabi Khan continued the Investigation Officer concerned should regularly update the progress of the case to the higher authority and the Court.
The Government should at all cost avoid transferring the IO before submitting his charge sheet, he added.
