AR celebrates International Nurses Day

International Nurses Day is celebrated around the world on the 12th May, to commemorate Florence Nightingales birthday.
It is also a day to remember her remarkable achievements in nursing and services to humanity.
Since Jan 1974, this day is celebrated globally as International Nurses Day.
To acknowledge the compassion, professionalism and round the clock commitments of the nurses caring for the public health in Tamenglong, 44 Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ 22 Sect AR/IGAR(E) launched an all female led sanitization and awareness program in Tamenglong town around the Rani Gaidinliu market.
The female Nursing Staff including Para Medical Staff of the Unit reached out to people in areas around the town to Spread awareness and assist them in the fighting against the devastating second wave of corona virus.
The unit organised a mobile awareness campaign spreading message about COVID appropriate behaviour among the shopkeepers and buyer's in the market area.
The posters depicted the selfless service rendered by the Nursing staff during the worldwide pandemic.
These all female warriors spread the message about online procedure to register for the third phase of vaccination via cowin.gov.in.
The unit also conducted a sanitization drive in the Rani Gaidanliu market area which is visited by many locals everyday.
The main market in the town and other key areas were sanitised by using mist spray machine.
The unit Nursing and Para medical staff on this occasion planted saplings of hope and good health all across the Tamenglong district.
The plantation drive witnessed many jawans joining nursing staff of the unit in planting 2000 saplings to honour the worldwide Nursing staff for their compassion and kindness in serving humanity.
In its unique endeavour the unit reached out to oldest Nurse from the town.
Mrs Meithonliu, a retired nurse hails from Chabagan, Ward No 8, Tamenglong.
Born on 01 Mar 1948 she completed her nursing from Makunda Leprosy General Hospital, Silchar.
Later she chose this noble profession of nursing and joined government service on 08 Jun 1978.She retired from active service in 2006 only to volunteer as a social worker and help the society in hours of need.
The unit CMO, Nurses on behalf of the complete unit accompanied by Dr Graccy, CMO, Civil Government Hospital honoured her for her compassion, optimism and kindness.
It was a moment to recognise her and her selfless hardwork to serve and inspire the humanity.
She alongwith her old colleagues Mrs KhiukhemliuGonmei and Mrs Asana Kamei together cut the cake on this occasion.
All three have retired from active service.
The unit felicitated these nurses, who continue to motivate and inspire the nursing fraternity on this occasion.
