Imphal, May 12 2021:
Tangkhul Naga Zingsho Longphang (TNZL) recently conducted an inspection of the ongoing road construction work from Shangshak to Sorbung villages.
The stretch of road is a key route of 202km connecting three districts, namely Ukhrul, Kamjong and Tengnoupal, and the project implemented by PWD, Manipur and funded by Ministry of Road Transport and Highway.
The project began in 2020 and is due for completion in 2023, TNZL said in a press release.
TNZL, an apex organisation of the eastern Tangkhul region, along with the contractors had conducted the inspection of the road stretch from Shangshak to Sorbung, which falls within its jurisdiction.
The team found the ongoing road construction to be satisfactory and in good progress, and the association urged the work agency to continue maintaining quality and standard of the road work.
The road from Shangshak to Sorbung is being undertaken by HVS Construction Materials (P) Ltd.
In fact, three work agencies are engaged in the ongoing road project connecting the three districts of Ukhrul, Kamjong and Tengnoupal.
The 202-km road project connecting the three districts was started in 1993 by Border Road Organisation (BRO) and later, taken over by State PWD.
However, the road was left neglected and remained abandoned for many years, TNZL said.
Meanwhile, TNZL appreciated the work agency for extending all possible assistance like construction of playground, levelling of plot for Church building and blacktopping of IVRs amongst others in different villages located along the road.
The work agency assured of extending help to unreached villages within the areas.
The public in the areas have resolved to extend full support to the contractor engaged in the ongoing road construction along the National Highway (102-A), TNZL added.
