Senapati, December 10 2022:
The ongoing Silver Jubilee of the Taphou Area Youth & Students Organization (TAYSO) witnessed different eye-catching cultural shows representing different tribes and communities living in the Taphou area.
The second day's event was attended by Col Anadi Atreya, deputy commandant 59 Mountain Brigade, as special guest.
In his welcome address, TAYSO president RD Ismael stated that in its 25 years of journey, the organisation has seen many changes and achievements, which he attributed to the hardworking spirit of the founding members.
The president hoped that the jubilee would bring more unity, love, peace and progress among the various communities existing together under TAYSO.
Addressing the gathering, 59 Mountain Brigade deputy commandant Col Anadi Atreya said that the theme of the celebration "Unity in Diversity" is also one of the principles on which the country is built and the TAYSO has taken this principle forward.
While expressing that the unity shown by 18 villages of different tribes, covering almost all tribes, is the way to look forward to progress in the country, the army officer assured of 59 Mountain Brigade's support to the TAYSO and the youth in whatever way possible.
Colourful traditional dances and folk songs were presented during the programme by representatives of different tribes and communities including Poumai Naga, Maram, Mao, Kuki, Nepali, Liangmei and Thangal.
Addressing media persons, Robert T Maram, founding president TAYSO, informed that the organisation was formed to foster unity, peace and progress among the different villages of Taphou.
In spite of the rich culture of the region, people have diversity in mind.
However, the celebration tries to promote and imbibe a new concept of oneness among the youth by interpreting "This is my tradition, this is my culture" into "This is our tradition, this is our culture" through the Silver Jubilee, he said.
The founding president was also hopeful that the jubilee celebration would become the foundation of "a new hope, a new thing and a new vision" for the coming generation.
