Nambol Bora Festival 2022 begins

The 10-days long, Nambol Bora Festival 2022 organised by Kanglei Eco-Tourism Development Association began today at Waklen Konjil Lampak under the theme, "Refreshing, a real touch of life" .
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Education Minister, Th Basantakumar Singh; Social Welfare Minister H Dingo; Manipur State Co-operative Union chairman, L Tompishak Singh; Development & Protection United Voluntary Organisation president, T Khaba Khuman; Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee Sh Hemanta and Kanglei EcoTourism Development Association advisor, Dr Kh Shamungou as presidium members.
Speaking on the occasion, Th Basantakumar stressed on the need to promote indigenous food and lauded Kanglei Eco-Tourism Development Association for organising the festival.
"Traditional foods are deeply intertwined with the cultures and value systems of the area", said the Minister while urging all to provide their support in promoting indigenous foods of the State.
H Dingo appreciated the unique way to begin the festival by watering plants and urged all to extend their cooperation in conserving the environment.
About 60 stalls selling different bora varieties were opened in the festival.
