The 45th foundation day of Peace & Humanity Labour Youth's Organisation (PHLYO) was celebrated at Ima Nongaleima community hall, here, on Saturday.
The celebration was attended by Thangmeiband MLA Khumukcham Joykisan Singh as chief guest and PHLYO president & special class government contractor Laishram Sharatjit as president, while former SP & social activist Potsangbam Sonamani, former PHLYO president Thoidingjam Buddha and PHLYO Women Wing advisor Soubam Ibetombi were present as guests of honour.
Speaking on the occasion after unfurling the flag of the club, MLA Kh Joykisan observed that a strong club will strengthen the unity and love in the locality as it can be very helpful during the time of any problem or disaster.
He maintained that to ensure a strong club the volunteers should work with sincerity and sense of sacrifice and all the people of the locality should become its members.
Stressing on the importance of local clubs, the MLA cited the example of support extended by local clubs during the time of Covid-19 pandemic.
He also mentioned that as the drug menace is rising amongst the youth, hence, the local clubs must work to apprehend drug peddlers in their locality, while adding that if they have any information on such people, they should approach him and he himself will join them in rounding up of such people.
MLA Joykisan also stated that the habit of delay in completion Of project works in the state should be uprooted and stressed on the need for keeping away politics from developmental work taken up in a locality.
