Four women among five held with drugs

Imphal, June 18 2022:
At least five people including four women were arrested with illegal drugs by police in separate cases on Saturday.
As part the drives being carried out under the 'War On Drugs 2.0' campaign, Kakching District Police arrested 4 people and recovered 610 gm of heroin from them.
The arrested people have been identified as Lamva Haokip (38) w/o Onthong Haokip of SP Saichang Molnai, her son Letkhogjn Haokip (18), CH Nemneikim Mate (43) w/o Ch Chunlet Mate of Khonbmpatvillage and Nengneichong Haokip (3t) w/o Paongma Haokip of Zalenphai Part 1, Moreh.
Parading the arrested people before the media on Saturday, Kakching SP Shrey Vats informed that a team of the district police commandos was conducting frisking and cheeking operation at Commando Check post in Leimanai Chingjin at around 11.10 am.
During the operation, a WagonR (MN 02 A-4499) coming from Moreh side was signalled to halt but refused and tried to flee the area.
The commando team gave chase and forced the vehicle to stop.
On checking the vehicle, 50 soap cases packed with 610 gm of heroin was recovered.
The seized drugs are estimated to be worth around Rs 13.42 lakh in the local market and around Rs 1.34 crore in the international market, he added.
Both the arrested people and the seized drugs have been handed over to Kakching PS.

FIR has been registered and investigation is underway, the SP conveyed.
Meanwhile, as part of the ongoing War on Drugs 2.0 drive, a combined team of Bishnupur District Police Commandos and Moirang PS arrested a woman with 36 gm of heroin on Saturday.
The arrested woman has been identified as Nengkhohoi (62) w/o Seithang Haokip of Songdo village, Henglep Sub-Division, Churachandpur District.
According to a police report, the combined team was conducting a frisking and checking at Pholjang Ward no.8 area at around 2.30 pm Saturday, during which Nengkhohoi was arrested.
The team seized 3 soap cases containing 36 gm of what is suspected to be heroin, from her bag while observing necessary formalities in presence of SDPO-MRG.
The arrested person along with the seized items has been handed over to Moirang PS for further legal action.
