Imphal, June 18 2022:
Manipur Government Service Federation (MGSF) vice president L Sarat has informed that a memorandum would be submitted to the Chief Secretary on June 21 highlighting the issues besetting government employees and urging the government to take up the necessary measures at the earliest.
MGSF organised a meeting of employees of different government departments to discuss issues faced by state government employees at the conference hall of Old Secretariat office on Saturday.
A two-minute silence was also observed in remembrance of the 18 people who died in the June 18 incident.
Addressing a press meet held with regard to the meeting, L Sarat pointed out that employees serving under the government of Manipur have been facing many issues from time to time including delay in release of salaries, which in turn, demoralise them to perform their duties diligently.
While stating that the Federation will extend assistance to employees affiliated under the Federation or the Manipur Secretariat Services Federation (MSSF) but have not received their pay for 3-4 months, he also called for concerted efforts in resolving the issues.
Sarat also assured to look into discrimination against work-charged employees of PHED.
Further alleging that the government has been delaying payment of entitled benefits to pensioners in addition to inaction for remedying pay anomalies of teachers, he said that the Federation has been making suggestions to the government and the officials of the Finance Department to resolve these issues.
The press meet was also attended by MGSF president Dr M Rajendro, general secretary Purujit Lairikyengbam, media convenor N Bidyananda, MSSF general secretary Rabi Takhellambam and representatives of associations of different departments.
