National Painting Camp 2022 begins

Moirang MLA Th Shanti Singh opened a 5-day National Painting Camp 2022 held at Omba Nurathel Garden, Moirang on Saturday.
The camp organised by Mix Media Foundation Manipur with an aim to nurture and bring the talent of Manipuri painters to global level was attended by MLA Shanti as chief guest, social worker Ph Magha Singh as functional president and Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) Shillong regional director N Munish Singh as guest of honour.
The camp is being participated by eight artists from state and outside including Anup Kumar Sarma, Alak Jyoti Pathak from Assam; Sanajaoba Tensuba, Konthoujam Maikel Meitei, Pramodini Moirangthem, Shamurailatpam Shivalaxmi Shanna from Manipur and Raphael Warjri from Meghalaya along with Kamile Natuataite of Vilnius, Lithuania who will create the visual documentation of the camp.
As part of the programme, an exhibition of artworks of the participating artists was also held on the opening day.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Th Shanti expressed that a painting can have deep meanings and various aspects which cannot be captured by a computer printout or a photo.
It is astounding that a painter can create beautiful paintings from his imagination by listening or reading a story, he said and described as truly amazing that an artist can make people feel something real through a painting they had created from their imagination.
This is why, people from across the world come to see paintings drawn by renowned Manipuri artist RKCS, he added.
The MLA also wished the budding Manipuri artists who are attending the camp that they may get inspired by the Loktak Lake and become world renowned artists.
