DDAM apprises Govt of problems

Disabled Development Association, Manipur (DDAM) has apprised the Government of different issues faced by differently abled persons in the state.
A memorandum submitted to Governor of Manipur by Secretary DDAM, on behalf of the organization focused on the demands to release the amount of the schemes for differently abled persons for 2014-15, to appoint a full time independent Commissioner for such people, to appoint regular staff of the disability section of the department for smooth implementation of the welfare schemes for these people.
It further demanded to allocate a special budget for the implementation of more new welfare schemes for such persons in a meaningful manner, to give more budget and support to existing Grant-in-Aid Schemes, to provide extra adequate budget for organising awareness programmes for such people, to upgrade existing two special schools for disabled to higher level.
The memorandum also demands to establish more hostels for differently abled persons and to give a concrete and written assurance with regard to implementing the aforesaid demands.
