Imphal, June 11 2015 :
A mother of three sons who was said to have been sexually assaulted twice by her brother-in-law (her husband's cousin) has demanded strict punishment against the accused according to the established law.
Disclosing the incidents to media persons at the office of ACOAM Lup, the victim said Chingakham Tomba (25) sexually assaulted her inside her house on January 28, 2015 and then again on April 25 .
Members of her family were also present at the press meet.
She said she concealed the first assault thinking she might get split-up with her husband and that she also wanted to save the name of her family.
"But I was suffering all alone" .
However, she related the second assault to her husband who along with her went to the house of accused Tomba.
But Tomba threatened the husband (his cousin) when the matter was raised.
The next morning, the mother and the aunt of the accused came to the victim's house and told the family members that there was no sexual assault against the victim and that it was an accusation.
She said that the local people also tried to find out the truth, but Tomba showed utter disrespect for the local elders and club members and so the matter has remained unsettled since then.
Later, an FIR against the accused was filed in Porompat Police Station in connection with the incident, but the accused was freed on bail and now he is walking free as if he had done nothing, she regretted.
"I was forced to live in my parental home for months after my husband came to know the whole truth," she said.
The victim also alleged that Tomba has two brothers who were also involved in several sexual assault cases.
ACOAM Lup president Ksh Samarendro who was also present during the press meet expressed concern about the growing crimes against women in the State and condemned all who are protecting those persons involved in sexual crimes.
He appealed to the people to make a concerted effort to fight together against such crimes.
