Imphal, June 11 2015 :
A candidate of the Naga Peoples' Front who contested the Autonomous District Council election from 1- Khoibu DCC of Machi sub- division under Chandel district has demanded re-election after the authorities concerned failed to take up necessary action against anomalies in the election process.
Th Morung who contested on an NPF ticket while speaking to the media today at Manipur Press Club said that 1/2 Khoibu polling station has 550 voters and on the day of voting, 500 voters cast their votes but when the counting was held only 492 voters were found to have cast their votes.
Out of the 492, two were invalid votes and the remaining eight votes are missing.
He questioned, "Where are the remaining eight votes? .
"Out of the 637 voters in 1/4 Bongli polling station, 601 cast their votes in favour of INC, which raises question on how that was possible, " he added.
None of the party agents except for INC were allowed in that specific polling station by the Kuki National Army (KNA) and United Minority Liberation Front (UMLA), alleged Th Morung.
He further alleged that on the day of voting, the polling process was seriously disrupted.
Prior to repoll on June 6, members of village authority including Church members, Deacon and Pastors of Khoibu village were called up to the camp of KNA and UMLA and were severely beaten up.
Such actions from underground groups which are under the SOO indicate that the INC have bribed them to disrupt the polling process, he alleged.
He added that he registered a complaint with the RO, who is the SDO of Machi, not to declare the result as there were anomalies in the polling and counting processes, yet the result was declared.
He urged the Election Commission to look into the incident and arrange the re-election process for 1- Khoibu DCC of Machi sub- division.
