Imphal, June 11 2015 :
With an aim to brand Konthoujam AC a model Assembly Constituency, Konthoujam Kendra Peoples' Task Force (KKPTF) today urged the department concerned to work sincerely for the development of all villages located within Konthoujam AC.
During a press meet held today at Manipur Press Club, secretary of KKPTF I Gandhajit informed media persons that the road connectivity of Konthoujam AC is in deplorable condition and most of the inter-village roads are not black topped.
Though some roads have been recently renovated, qualitative aspects have been completed neglected, he alleged.
Stating that even though Yurembam power station is located within Konthoujam AC, people have not been receiving adequate power supply.
He further said that though some areas of the State receive more than ten hours of power supply in a day, villages of Konthoujam AC receive hardly two hours of electricity a day.
People receive minimal power supply but the electricity bill is the same as those who receive more hours of power supply which is outrageous, he said.
Gandhajit said that the villages not only have issues with deplorable road condition and irregular power supply but also with the state of education.
There are numerous Government educational institutions in the area.
However, negligible number of students study in these institutions due to lack of proper educational infrastructure.
In such a scenario, the Recent Higher Secondary School located at Sagoltongba is likely to be downgraded by the State Government.
Gandhajit added that KKPTF will co-ordinate with the JAC constituted for the upliftment of the Recent Higher Secondary School in order to save the future of the school.
Meanwhile, assistant secretary of KKPTF M Sakhi informed that an essay competition on the theme 'How to make Konthoujam A/C a model Assembly Constituency' will be held and added that detailed information can be obatined from the head office of KKPTF.
