UNC team meets Dr Jitendra

United Naga Council (UNC) team led by its President Gaidon Kamei, met the visiting Union Minister Dr Jitendra Sigh and RN.
Ravi, Centre's Interlocutor in the "Indo-Naga political dialogue" in Imphal and submitted a memorandum apprising them about the suffering of the innocent villagers in the aftermath of June 4 ambush in Chandel District.
UNC condemned the ambush and said, "We share the grief and sorrow of the bereaved family members and pray for the departed souls to rest in peace and wish speedy recovery of all those injured personnel.
The memorandum also stated that there has been constant threat to derail the on-going hard earned "Indo-Naga Peace process" by state and non-state actors in Manipur taking undue advantage of the situation.
UNC said it seriously viewed the "physical harassment and detention" meted out to 14 innocent Naga villagers of Duthang Anal Naga village on June 5 in the post ambush operation launched by the Indian Army.
"We urge the Government of India and the Indian Army to refrain from harassing the peace loving innocent people and to protect their life and property" .
"Our adversaries have been ceaselessly orchestrating maximum disturbances and violence in cease-fire coverage areas which is a menace to our peaceful environment.
Naga people will not tolerate any form of violence perpetrated by both state and non-state actors in Naga areas," it added.
UNC leaders said that after patient hearing, the Central leaders re-assured the UNC team that peace process between the Government of India and NSCN (I-M) will continue and also will not allow any situation that will disturb the on-going process for political settlement.
The UNC delegates also drew the attention of the visiting leaders on the military atrocities and asked them to take measures in saving life and properties of the Paraolon village areas of Chandel district.
