Manipur lagging behind other states: Okendro

Education Minister M Okendro on Thursday said that even though Manipur is good place for any activities we are lagging behind in many fields.
Minister Okendro saidthis during the formal signing of MOU between Tata Technologies Ltd and NIT Manipur for setting up of a Centre of excellence for collaborative learning & Innovation Centre at NIT Campus, Langol.
Giving the chief guest'sspeech theminister said that Manipur is a suitable place for setting up any type of activities but still the state is lagging behind in most fields due to lack the opportunity.
Okendro further said that when we got the opportunities the state will be energetic, vibrant and active in any venture for the welfare of the people.
The signing of MoUwill give benefit not only to the students but will also provide expertise and experience of Tata Technologies to the faculty staffs of NIT.
Okendro informed that several strategies has been indicated to fill up the gap between in the education which higher education provided by the most of the higher institution and promised to provide any further needs.
The MOU will also help provide more job opportunity to the NIT Manipur students.
The joint venture will put value addition to this Institution.
Education minister sought the TataCompany to provide full support for making the Institution more excellence in learning and innovation Centre.
"It is an unfortunate experience of Manipur that most of the Companies are reluctant to come to this remote part of the country dye to its non profitable position and unfortunate lwa and order problems" Okendro said.
He appealedto set up any intending companies in the state and the government is ready to provide all possible assistance.
It may be noted that the MOU was signed with the following objectives, establish NIT Manipur as the leader with best available technology platform for research projects and skill development for students, certification partner of TATA Technologies so that students can get certified without leaving the premises, attract best students with increasing aptitude during admissions, attract companies MNCs etc.
Registrar NIT Manipur RK Lalit and Head-Aero and IHM, TTL attended as Guest of Honours while NIT Manipur Director Dr S Birendra attended as President respectively.
