District Election Officer updates on poll preparations in Senapati

Imphal, January 29 2022:
District Election Of-ficer (DEO), Senapati Mahesh Chaudhari informed that in-teractions and meetings with political parties, students and leaders are being held for confidence building and ensure free and fair election in the district.Addressing a press con-ference at DC Chamber Hall, Mahesh Chaudhari said that 47 polling stations in the dis-trict will be manned by more than 200 women in the as-sembly election-2022 while 517 PwDs have been identi-fied in the district to facilitate them exercise their franchise rights.
He also informed that training for election officials and polling personnel are going on smoothly.Emphasising on Covid-19 situation, he appealed all the booth level agent and political agent to get fully vaccinated and urged all the political parties/intending candidate to strictly observe Covid-19 protocols.
In case the number of Covid-19 cases rise the public need to come forward so that various mea-sures may be taken up, he stressed.
The DEO also highlighted that KYC (Know Your Can-didate) app and C-Vigil app can be downloaded in the phone and helpline number 1950 for any query.Nodal officer for EVM & Manpower Dr L Angshim Dashangwa said that two rounds of 1st level checking of EVM & VVPAT have been carried out.
Randomisation of EVM & VVPAT is done AC-wise in the presence of polit-ical parties, he said, adding that Medical Screening of polling personnel have been completed with total sepa-ration of men and women.
He further said that final scrutiny of name list will be out soon and mentioned that 39 per cent of EVM and 55 per cent of VVPAT has been reserved in case of any com-plications.Nodal officer for Training and Postal Ballot S Languiba Thangal said that the second round of training will begin after 2nd randomisation of polling personnel in team wise.
It will be hands-on training to simulate the actu-al polling day, he maintained.
He also informed that third round of training will be on filling of forms and manda-tory papers along with con-veying that online video clips will be shared to the polling personnel as a tutorial video.
He further said that PwDs, persons above 80 years of age, Covid-19 patients and goods & essential officials and staff shall be facilitat-ed with postal ballots.
Soon after the election notifica-tion, postal ballot forms have been reached out to PwDs and person above 80 years by the BLOs, he added.According to nodal officer for Electoral Roll H L Chris-tian Home, EEM team has constituted a Cash Seizure Committee to check cash amount carried by a per-son above Rs 50,000 with-out proof while Senapati SP Karthick Malladi informed that three new police stations have been made functional at Maram, Purul and Tungjoy.
He also said that CRPF, BSF and CISF personnel have been deployed in the district for the ensuing election while 99.2 per cent of Police per-sonnel have been fully vacci-nated and actively perform-ing their duties.
Moreover, Drop Gates have been opened at Willong, Purul and Tung-joy, the SP added.
