Fresh cases, TPR drop; one dies

Imphal, January 29 2022:
The state on Satur-day reported 425 new posi-tive cases of Covid-19 out of 2615 samples tested in the last 24 hours, registering a positivity rate of 16.25 per cent against 20.81 per cent recorded on Friday.Saturday also reported one death case which took the fatality tally to 2038.The victim was a resident of Imphal East district, who had received second dose of Covid vaccine.
So far, the virus has claimed the lives of 157 vaccinated people including 37 who had received second doses.While 294 patients were discharged from home isolation (168), RIMS (6), JNIMS (20) and CCCs (100) in the last 24 hours, the active caseload rose to 3934 out of which 1396 (35.49 per cent) are in home iso-lation.
There are 228 vacant beds available in JNIMS and 145 in RIMS but there is no updated information on bed availability in Covid Care Centres.
Out of the 16 districts, only two did not reported any fresh Covid cases on Saturday.So far, the state has re-corded 1,03,181 positive cases and 1664 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pan-demic.
The current month has reported 6793 new pos-itive cases and 36 fatalities.
The weekly number of new infection cases and new fatalities are 2920 and 16 respectively.According to official re-ports, the 425 fresh cases included 415 civilians (169 male & 246 female) and 10 personnel of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) whose samples were confirmed at RIMS (18), JNIMS (39) and other testing centres (368) .
1The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (98), Imphal West (187), Thoubal (29), Bishnupur (19), Kakching (11), Kamjong (2), Kangpokpi (5), Ukhrul (6), Tamenglong (10), Tengnoupal (3), Jiribam (2), Senapati (4), Chandel (8) and Churachandpur (31).All necessary measures like con-tainment and contact tracing are in place.The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,32,581 (general popula-tion - 1,27,632 and CAPF personnel - 4,949).Number of recovered cases is 1,26,609 (general population - 1,21,876 and CAPF personnel - 4,733) and number of active cases is 3934 (general population - 3725 and CAPF personnel - 209).The recovery rate is 95.50 per cent.A total of 412 D-type and 91 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to differ-ent health facilities in the last 24 hours.
Moreover, 11,948 vaccine doses were admin-istered on Friday and it took the cumulative number of vaccinated people to 14,13,057 out of which 10,42,114 have received second doses and 24,748 have received precau-tionary dose.As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR re-ports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (47,057), Imphal East (29,414), Thoubal (9817), Chu-rachandpur (10,810), Kang-pokpi (3018), Tamenglong (3343), Bishnupur (9506), Senapati (2374), Ukhrul (3123), Kakching (6668), Chandel (2599), Noney (1118), Tengnoupal (1155), Jiribam (1105), Kamjong (1009) and Pherzawl (465).Fatality counts in differ-ent districts are Imphal West (683), Imphal East (489), Thoubal (179), Churachan-dpur (166), Kangpokpi (64), Tamenglong (14), Bishnupur (196), Senapati (11), Ukhrul (48), Kakching (117), Chandel (42), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (5) and Pherzawl (0) .
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infec-tion remains 42,727 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected popula-tion of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 29,156 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 4,91,047 tests per million population against the national average of 5,17,912 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.54 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, only 2615 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 16.25 per cent while the cu-mulative positivity rose to 8.70 per cent.
