Steps taken to ensure free and fair election: DEO Senapati

District Election Officer Senapati, Mahesh Chaudhari, IAS has informed that interactions and meetings with political parties, students and leaders have been conducted to ensure free and fair election in the district.
Addressing a press conference at DC Chamber Hall, Mahesh Chaudhari stated that 47 polling stations in the district will be manned by more than 200 women in the forthcoming Assembly Election 2022 .
He mentioned that training for election officials and polling personnel have been going on smoothly while adding that 517 PwDs of the district will also be able to exercise their voting rights in the upcoming election.
The DEO appealed to all the booth level agents and political agents to get themselves vaccinated and the political parties/intending candidates to strictly observe Covid protocol.
He also enlightened the gathering on KYC (Know Your Candidate) app and C-Vigil app.

Dr L Angshim Dashangwa, IAS, Nodal Officer for EVM & Manpower stated that two rounds of EVM & VVPAT checking have been carried out.
Randomization of EVM & VVPAT have also been conducted constituency wise in the presence of political parties, he added.
He also informed that medical screening of polling personnel have been completed and final scrutiny of the name list will be out soon.
S Languiba Thangal, Nodal Officer for Training and Postal Ballot stated that the second round of training will begin after 2nd randomization of polling personnel.
He informed that the third round of training will be on filling of forms and mandatory papers while adding that an online video clip will also be shared to polling personnel as a tutorial video.
S Languiba Thangal further stated that facilities for postal ballots would be provided to PwDs, senior citizens, Covid patients, goods & essential officials and staff.
H L Christian Home, Nodal Officer for Electoral Roll stated that the EEM team has constituted a Cash Seizure Committee to check the amount of cash carried by a person which should not exceed Rs 50,000 without proof.
Karthick Malladi, IPS, SP, Senapati said that 3 new Police Stations have been functional in the district at Maram, Purul and Tungjoy while adding that CRPF, BSF and CISF have also been deployed in the district for the ensuing election.
He mentioned that 99.2% of police personnel have been fully vaccinated and are actively performing their duties.
It may also be mentioned that Drop gates have been opened at Willong, Purul & Tungjoy.
