AMCTA airs teachers' issues at AIFUCTO meet

All Manipur College Teachers' Association (AMCTA) president M Lokendro Singh, who is also national secretary of All India Federation of University & College Teachers' Organisations (AIFUCTO), and AMCTA general secretary Dr M Imocha Singh placed issues besieging college teachers of Manipur at the AIFUCTO's National Executive Committee meeting and National Seminar on NEP-2020 held at DAV College, Amritsar, Punjab from April 23 to 24.An AMCTA release informed that Dr M Imocha highlighted the challenges faced by college teachers of the state, pressed for AIFUCTO's demand on restoring of Old Pension System (OPS) over New Pension System (NPS), maintaining status quo of UGC, etc.
M Lokendro, reportedly stressed on clarification from MHRD/UGC on dispute in payment of MPhil/PhD incentive (Advance Increment) in some states, scrapping of the mandate for mandatory PhD degree in recruitment of assistant professor and proposed that there should be no restriction on promotion in Career Advancement Schema (CAS).
AMCTA further mentioned that the meeting unanimously resolved to pursue the said demands, apart from pressing for implementation of 7th UGC Pay scale for university and college teachers of Punjab and repealing of NEP-2020 along with forming of alternative education policy.
