Three convicted in drug related cases

Imphal, April 28 2022:
W Tonen Special Judge ND & PS Bishnupur convicted three persons including two women involved in separate drug related cases on Thursday and fixed May 4 and May 5 respectively for sentence hearing.
The judgment order of the first case against convict Thangkhanhau Zou (51) of P Kamdou Veng, Churachandpur was kept reserved from April 25 after the final hearing of the case.
The case was on against the convict after he was arrested along with three kg of opium from Oksongbung Lairenjam Leirak Machin near Citizen Club under Moirang police station on January 31, 2015 .
The Court has directed the authority concerned to dispose of the seized opium and take custody of the convict who is on bail and send him to Manipur Central Jail, Sajiwa.
The sentencing of the convict will be held on May 4 .
In another case, the same Court convicted two women today.
The judgment order of convicts Kimkim Haokip (50) w/o Heliry Haokip and Hevah Vaiphei (49) w/o Henthang Vaiphei both from Pangmol village, Sapermeina, Kangpokpi was kept reserved
from April 18 .
The case was on against the two convicts after they were arrested from Nachou Lamkhai in Bishnupur district on July 6, 2019 along with 13 kg of opium.
Since both the convicts have pleaded guilty, the Court convicted Kimkim Haokip under Section 18(b) of the ND&PS Act, 1985 for unauthorized possession of the opium and convicted Hevah Vaiphei on the charge of criminal conspiracy under Section 29 of the ND&PS Act, 1985 .
Convicts Kimkim Haokip and Hevah Vaiphei have also been sent to the Manipur Central Jail, Imphal for further proceedings.
The Court directed the authority concerned to produce the convicts on May 5, 2022 for sentence hearing.
