Imphal, April 28 2022:
The Kangleipak Students' Association (KSA) has urged the State Government to initiate all demanded measures to implement National Education Policy (NEP), 2020 in Manipur.
A press release issued by KSA said that NEP 2020 has already been implemented in a number of States while many others will also follow suit shortly but the education policy of 1986 is still in place in Manipur.
Claiming that NEP 2020 is only in preparation stage in Manipur, KSA maintained the education system must be restructured to 5+3+3+4 from 10+2 model as per the latest education policy in the interest of the students.
Expressing concern over the delay in implementing NEP 2020 to bring about a positive change in the education system of the country, the association asked why the State Government and the Education Department have been deferring NEP, 2020 which aims to make India a technological resource provider.
KSA further urged the Government to formulate a curriculum framework for general and professional education and implement Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) after due consultation with the experts.
Saying that the role of teachers is important, KSA appealed to all concerned to establish a Teacher Education University in Manipur and increase the budget allocation for education.
The association also appealed to the media houses to reserve one column for education related news.
KSA said that they will organise a discourse on NEP 2020 implementation in the second week of May.
