Imphal, April 28 2022:
Following the death of a 28 year old man who bore injury marks, people of Nongpok Sanjenbam Khullen staged a protest demonstration today apart from setting ablaze a car.
The deceased identified as Loushambam Rabichandra s/o L Ibobi of Nongpok Sanjenbam Khullen was working as a care-taker at a farm owned by one Longjam Jackson of Wabagai Hiyanglam at Nongren, Imphal East district.
After the death of Rabichandra at RIMS on April 25, Lamlai police pulled up Jackson today.
On learning about the arrest of Jackson, people of Nongpok Sanjenbam Khullen raised an uproar this afternoon.
Even though they set ablaze a car which belongs to Jackson, a team of Manipur Fire Service arrived and doused the fire.
Nonetheless, people of Nongpok Sanjenbam Khullen staged a protest demonstration under the JAC formed in connection with the suspicious death of Rabichandra.
The protesters demanded that the Government should book and punish all those involved in the alleged murder of Rabichandra at the earliest.
JAC co-convenor Akoijam Birjit said the bereaved family have strong suspicion that Rabichandra was beaten to death by some persons.
Rabichandra was looking after Jackson's farm at Nongren.
Jackson took Rabichandra to JNIMS on April 24 after he was allegedly assaulted by three unknown persons on April 22 at Nongren.
After he was given some treatment at JNIMS, Jackson left Rabichandra at his home.
However, Rabichandra complained of acute pain in several parts of his body the next day (April 25) and he was rushed to RIMS.
Even as Rabichandra was subjected to surgical operation, he died on the same day, said the JAC co-convenor.
Saying that the bereaved family as well as the JAC have strong suspicion that Rabichandra was thrashed brutally by Jackson and his accomplices at his (Jackson) farm, Birjit said Jackson seemingly threatened Rabichandra not to disclose the incident.
The JAC co-convenor maintained that the Government should book all the culprits involved in the alleged murder of Rabichandra within five days.
The JAC has already resolved not to claim the body of Rabichandra until the facts and circumstances leading to his death are established.
