Imphal, April 28 2022:
While informing that three bags of Urea at subsidised rate were provided to farmers engaging in paddy cultivation and 30 kg to horticultural farmers in the same area, Farmers' Association for Inhesion Reformation (FAIR), Khoijuman has urged authorities concerned to look into the matter and provide adequate urea to the vegetable farmers as well.
In a release, FAIR president Ch Khogendro informed that acting on their request, field verification using GPS camera were carried out after which 30 bags of urea were distributed to select farmers (both paddy and horticultural farmers) at subsidised rate.
According to KVK-Utlou expert/SMS-Horticulture, one pari of land requires at least 120-250 kg of urea for cultivating vegetables.
Urea could not be brought from the market and even if available it costs around Rs 1500 per bag, he pointed out, while adding that Khoijuman village has been producing vegetable crops threefold in a year for the last many years.
As such, the expert demanded authorities concerned to look into the distribution of urea for horticultural farmers.
