CCpur, April 28 2022:
The 29 bedded children ward of Churachandpur District Hospital has run out of capacity as cases of heat related illness have surged in the region.
Health officials in the district said that fever, dysentery, chest infections and dehydration are the cases common among the children, particularly those below one year of age.
As the heat related cases keep on increasing, all 29 beds in the District Hospital have been occupied while 10 other children are being treated on the corridors of the hospital as of today.

Discouraging children from playing under the sun, avoiding crowded places and keeping them hydrated will be the best precautions to keep the children safe, said officials.
The officials also advised the parents to keep their wards hydrated and to administer electrolytes containing ORS if they develop loose motion.
Avoiding contaminated food or snacks and immediately consulting doctors in case of illness are some of the advisory given by the health officials.
