Noney PMGSY projects to be completed by March

While stating that the department has been planning to complete construction of roads under PMGSY in two different areas of Noney district within March next year, Rural Engineering Department has urged the people to wait for a while as all preparations are underway to complete the road projects.
Speaking to newspersons at the office of Rural Engineering Department located at Secure Office complex, here, on Wednesday, Rural Engineering Department (RED) additional chief engineer Kh Rajen informed that the present road construction work from Noney to Nungang is under stage 2 while stage 1 of the work consisting of cutting hill and culvert construction has been completed.
He confided that though the ministry directed the RED to execute only the WBM portion of the project, the department conveyed to the ministry regarding the people wish, and took approval for light blacktopping over the existing metalled road.
On the other hand, the road from Tupul to Cha-Chagotlong is still in stage 1, but as the central government intimated that all works of PMGSY should be wrapped up within September 30, the department sought sanctions before completion of stage 1 of the work, he explained.
While asserting that Rural Engineering Department has been taking up PMGSY works judiciously, Rajen also clarified that the assigned works could not be completed within 18 months due to two years of Covid-19 pandemic and inclement weather conditions in the hilly areas.
If the weather condition is favourable and financial position of the contractor sound then the road will be completed within March next year, he assured, while urging the people to bring to the notice of officials of the department if there is any grievances regarding the PMGSY works.
