Ad-hoc Committee Sawombung to Sagolmang via Keibi Road has demanded the relevant authority to start repair work on the road from Sawombung to Sagolmang via Keibi Road by December 4 .
The Committee will proceed to block the aforementioned road from 6 am of December 5 in case their demand remains unfulfilled.
The statement was made by Laishram Ropen, co-convenor, Ad-hoc Committee Sawombung to Sagolmang via Keibi Road, during a press conference held at Young Learners Library and Leading Organization (YOLLLO) located at Keibi.
Speaking to media persons, Laishram Ropen shared that the issue had been discussed in the Assembly and the people had been assured with positive feedback many times in the past.
Whenever the people threaten to launch agitation due to inaction of the relevant authority, they try to appease the people by filling the potholes on the road with stones, he alleged.
But the condition of the road continues to worsen with time and people have almost lost faith in any repair work being done, he lamented.
Elaborating on the condition of the road, he claimed that due to its deplorable state, many passenger service vehicles have stopped plying along this road.
School buses and vans have also threatened to follow suit by a certain date, he alleged.
In view of such dire circumstances, the Committee was formed by the local clubs, village development committee and meira paibi organisations, he said.
He further stated that no vehicles will be exempted from the blockade set to be launched from December 5.The co-convener stated that the people have resolved to carry through with the agitation until the road gets repaired.
