UNC elects new executive council for 2022-26

Senapati, November 30 2022:
A new executive council of the United Naga Council (UNC) headed by Ng Lorho as president was elected on November 29 after conducting a general election at Maram Union Secretariat, Senapati.
The election commission of the UNC headed by K Raisong as chief election commission elected the following as the new executives for the 2022-26 term.
Newly elected UNC executives include Ng Lorho (president), S Milan (vice president), Vareiyo Shatsang (general secretary), S Stephen Lamkang (assistant general secretary), Koruphun Tantanga (social & culture secretary), Heutwalung James (information & publicity secretary) and Paul Chothe (assembly speaker).
It is reported that the remaining posts viz finance secretary, deputy assembly speaker, assembly secretary and deputy assembly secretary will be filled up in the forthcoming presidential meeting.
Newly elected UNC president Ng Lorho, s/o Ngaino is from Tunggam village under Senapati district and belongs to Poumai Naga community.
He had also served as president of the Poumai Naga Union from 2010-13, and Naga People's Organization in 2015 beside being a former vice president of UNC (2017-18) and holding other posts of Poumai Naga Union, Joint Committee on COVID-19, Manipur, representing the United Naga Council (UNC) .
Vareiyo Shatsang, on the other hand, is former president of the All Tribal Students Union, Manipur (ATSUM) and he belongs to the Tangkhul community.
Oath taking ceremony will likely take place on December 5 .
Meanwhile, the Naga Hoho has congratulated the newly elected United Naga Council (UNC) executives and "assembly officials" for the tenure 2022-2026 .
The Naga Hoho also extended its best wishes to the new team and lauded the outgoing UNC team led by S Kho John "for the successful tenure" .
