Imphal, August 18 2022:
Manipur Tourism Foundation (MTF) has submitted a memorandum to chief minister N Biren reminding him to implement at the earliest the Foundation's demand made on December 30, 2021 for development of Manipur Integrity Park along with an imposing viewing tower with a minimum height of 150 feet at Imphal for bringing emotional integration of Manipur as a living testimony of brotherhood of the hill and valley people in the state.
In a memorandum submitted to chief minister on Wednesday, MTF secretary K Mohonchandra stated that the realisation of the long-cherished dream of the Foundation for bringing integrity of Manipur depends on the protection and preservation of the identity of culture, customs and traditions of all the seven 'Salais' (clans) and recognised 33 tribes of the state as it will only pave the way for the development of a full-fledged rich culture of Manipur.
But any attempt made by the major 'Salai' or tribe to amalgamate minor Salai or tribe into their own 'Salai' or tribe will only lead to widening the chasm between the hill and valley people instead of bringing emotional integration in Manipur.
The basic foundation for bringing integrity of Manipur is to protect and preserve the identity of all the 'Salais' and tribes of the state irrespective of big or small in number or size.
The interference into the affairs of other minor tribe or 'Salai' by the major tribe or 'Salai' for own gain will only lead to downfall of the state or country within a foreseeable period of time, it noted.
MTF continued that now, the time is ripe to unite all 'Salias' and tribes of the state for bringing cultural integration that will pave the way to achieve the long-standing demand for the integration of Manipur.
The Foundation has a vision for the development of Manipur Integrity Park with an imposing viewing tower in the heart of Imphal city having full view of the city for the visitors from the tower along with an auditorium cum exhibition hall depicting the identity of each 'Salai' or tribe of all the seven 'Salais' and recognised 33 tribes of the state in mural paintings on the walls or in art forms like a museum.
A yearly convention/ convocation of hill and valley people in the auditorium should be held in a gigantic and harmonical manner so that each member or community present may feel themselves as an integral part of Manipur and the emotion of being oneness among the people of the state, it further conveyed.
