National Power Weightlifting bronze medalist G Panmei felicitated

Gaithutlung Panmei, bronze medalist at the National Power Weight Lifting was felicitated today by the Pongringlong Village Authority, Rongmei Naga Youth Organisation Manipur (RNYOM) and Lu Phawm AMN at his native place in Pongringlong Charoipandongba in Kangpokpi district.
In the reception program, Gaihutlung Panmei expressed his gratitude and happiness to the civil society for giving him such a warm welcome.
He also thanked his coach for the guidance which helped him bring laurels to the State.
He also expressed his gratitude for the support and love given by the Assam Rifles Tupul and the JNV Tamenglong in times of his struggle and hard time.
He further appealed to the Chief Minister N Biren Singh and the elected Zeliangrong leaders Awongbou Newmai, Minister Water Resources and Relief Department, D Gangmei, HAC Chairman and Janghemlung Panmei, MLA Tamenglong to support and guide him in the upcoming Asian Championship schedule to be held in Dubai in the month of December.
Gaihutlung Panmei had lifted a total of 370 kg (Squat 120 kg, bench 80 kg and deadlift 170 kg) to claim his bronze medal in the 53kg sub-junior category which was recently held at Kanhangad Kasaragod, Kerala.
Gaihutlung Panmei is a Rongmei tribe from Pongringlong Charoipandongba, Kangpokpi District.
Bom in a poor family, he is currently studying class 12 in JNV Tamenglong.
From his childhood he has had the passion for sports and dream of' becoming a sports personality and always dream of lifting up his family from poverty.
Before he took up weight lifting he had the strong desire of becoming a boxer but due to the lack of guidance and training ne took up weight lifting.
He has 6 (six) brothers, his father is a farmer.
Village chairman, youth and women society from Noney District also joined in welcoming the Bronze medalist of National Power Weight Lifting champion.
